I sprinted back to the Skelebros' place, shoving the key in my jacket pocket once I got there. After catching my breath, I walked inside and found Papyrus inside.

"Papyrus! You're back!" I exclaimed.

"OF COURSE I AM, FRISK! AND I HAVE COME BACK VICTORIOUS!" Papyrus cheered, showing me his blue ribbon. I smiled. "SANS SAID HE'S PROUD OF ME! IT'S TOO BAD HE COULDN'T STAY!" I froze.

"What do you mean by that?"

"SANS LEFT EARLIER. HE SAID THAT HIS PROFESSOR WANTED TO SEE HIM AND HE'LL BE BACK VERY LATE TONIGHT."

He LEFT?! I screeched mentally.

"Shut up! I'm trying to sleep here!" Chara yelled.

"Hey, Pap, what time is it? I'm tired," I said. Pap looked at the clock.

"WOWIE! WE SHOULD GET TO BED! IT'S TEN O'CLOCK AT NIGHT!" Papyrus exclaimed.

"You're right. Good night, Papyrus!"

"GOOD NIGHT, FRISK!" We both went up the stairs, Papyrus to the second floor, me to the third floor.

I layed down in the guest bed, staring at the ceiling. After two minutes, I heard Papyrus sleeping. I got up, went downstaris, out the back door, and walked over to the hose box. Grunting, I pushed the box aside and like Grillby said, there was a keyhole. I took the key out of my pocket, put it in the hole, turned it, and a patch of grass three feet away popped up.

"So far, so good," I whispered. I pushed the box back to not make anything look suspicious. Then, I went into the hole and closed the grass-patch door. I walked down the stairs and found out it was a secret lab. There wasn't much. Just a counter, a few drawers, and a machine.

I walked over to the counter and saw blueprints with strange symbols on them. They seemed to be for the machine that was down here.

Sighing, I opened the drawers. In one, there was an photo with Sans and other people I didn't entirely recognize. They reminded me of the grey people in Hotland. I scanned the photo, trying to make sure I didn't miss anything. My reward was a skeleton with cracks on its face. I stuffed it into my pocket, making a mental note to ask Sans about it.

I opened the second drawer and saw the same skeleton with cracks on its face, along with a female skeleton and what looked like young Sans and young Papyrus. There was a tiny strip of paper taped to the drawing with the words "Don't forget."

I opened the last drawer and saw several papers. Most of them had the same symbols the blueprints had, but a few had Sans' handwriting on it. They were mostly predictions, journal entries, and experiment trials.

I closed the drawer and went over to the machine. It showed a map of Waterfall with a red circle near Sans' old post. There was a paper on the machine that read the following:

"Entry Number 17,

I've finally relocated the door. Now that I've found it again, I can finally talk to him, try to get some sense out of the situation- more specifically, why he came up with the Determination pills and what he has in mind for me and Dust. Personally, I'd like to just see a recording, but it's better in person.

There's no time to waste."

"Waterfall. That's where Sans is. I hope he's okay," I whispered. The thought filled me with Determination. I went out of the lab, closing the patch in the process, and raced to Mount Ebbott.

Sans teleported to the door. He reached out, only to be interrupted by Dust.

"You finally ready to face our old man again?" Dust asked.

"If it means answers, then yes," Sans replied calmly. He turned the knob and went inside.

"AH, SANS. WHAT A SURPRISE," Gaster said. "AND WHAT IS IT YOU NEED?"

"Enough talking, Gaster. Why did you make the pills?" Sans interrogated. Gaster let out a laugh.

"I'VE ALREADY TOLD YOU, SANS. YOU'RE WEAK. DETERMINATION MAKES A MONSTER STRONGER."

"I'm not weak! I have the hands, like you!"

"AND BEFORE THE PILLS, YOU COULD BARELY MAINTAIN THEM. SPEAKING OF PILLS," Gaster held out his right hand. Hovering an two inches over the hole was a red pill. "THIS IS A MODIFIED VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL PILL YOU ATE. IT CONTAINS SEVENTY PERCENT DETERMINATION. I WANT YOU TO EAT IT." Sans stared in disbelief.

"I'm not eating that! It could kill me, or worse, bring Dust to life!"

"Wow. That's really nice, Sans," Dust stated sarcastically.

"WELL, IF YOU WON'T EAT IT, THEN MAYBE I'LL GET PAPYRUS TO DO IT. OR THAT HUMAN GIRL YOU'RE ALWAYS AROUND. I MAY NOT TECHNICALLY HAVE A PHYSICAL FORM, BUT MY MAGIC IS STILL ACTIVE." Sans' left eye socket turned light blue.

"Don't. You. Dare."

"THEN LET'S MAKE A DEAL. IF YOU EAT THE PILL, I'LL SPARE YOUR THEM, AND," Gaster held out his left hand, and above it hovered Sans' final SOUL piece. "I'LL GIVE YOU THE REST OF YOUR SOUL." Sans' left eye socket turned back to normal. He stared at the tiny fragemnent that was part of his SOUL.

"I can have it back?" Gaster nodded. Sans knew that if he accepted the deal, Papyrus and Frisk would both be safe and he would get a complete SOUL. The downside was that he'd have to eat another pill, and he remembered how much that hurt. Sans imagined how painful seventy percent would be.

"WELL? DO WE HAVE A DEAL?" Gaster asked. Sans hesitated, but nodded. "GOOD." Gaster put the remaining piece of Sans' SOUL in a SOUL capsule and gave it to Sans. Sans took the container and the pill. He looked at it for a second.

It's for their safety, Sans reminded himself. If you eat the pill, you'll buy them more time. Without another moment of hesitation, he ate the pill.

Sans' prediction was correct- this pill hurt much more than the first one. It felt like he swallowed fire. Sans collapsed on the floor, coughing. He held his hand over his mouth, feeling like he was going to throw up. Sans felt like he was going to turn into a puddle of goo, like Alphys' amalgamates.

No. That's not gonna happen, Sans thoguht. After about a minute, he stopped coughing. Sans looked up and saw Gaster smiling down at him.

"You're a freakin' sadist, Gaster," he growled, standing up. Sans' summoned a Gaster Blaster and leaned on it for support.

"DON'T SAY SUCH A THING TO YOUR FATHER, SANS," Gaster said. Sans grew angry and glared at Gaster.

"This version of you is not my father, so shut up!" With that, Sans left the Grey Room, slamming the door behind him.

I collapsed on the ground, exhausted. I'd sprinted all the way from the Skelebros' backyard and all the way to Waterfall. Luckily, Undyne also trained me to keep running for as long as I have to. If she didn't, I would've been out of breath before I entered Mount Ebbott.

I stood up and looked around. There was a grey door to my right about five feet away. I didn't remember a door being there, so I started to walk towards it, but I paused and turned invisible when I heard the doorknob click. Sans walked out, leaning on a blaster, and slammed the door behind him. He looked so tired, but angry as well.

It wouldn't be a good idea to turn visible, I thought.

"Oh my God! Just shut-" Chara paused when she realized Sans was there. "What happened while I was sleeping?"

"The freakin' sadist. I wish it was Dad that was there, not Gaster," Sans said. The blaster supporting Sans looked at him in offense. "I said "Gaster", not "Gaster Blaster", okay?" The Gaster Blaster nodded.

"So Gaster made those," Chara said. I nodded, even thought she couldn't see me.

"Let's go to Snowdin to train. I really need something to take my mind off of this," Sans sighed. The Gaster Blaster made a blasting sound. "Nah, I'm not teleporting. I wanna save my energy. Plus, I wanna grab a drink at my old post, first."

I walked alongside Sans and the Gaster Blaster, remaining invisible. We all reached Sans' old sentry post. He reached over the counter and pulled out a ketchup bottle. I crawled behind the post, grabbed a water bottle, and put it under my coat for when we get to Snowdin.

After about two minutes, me, Sans, and the Gaster Blaster all started walking again. We all trudged through the fog and into Snowdin.

Ah, Snowdin. It's probably my favorite place in the Underground. The town's so friendly. The only person who wanted to bring my to the king was Papyrus, but that was before we became friends. Nothing's changed in Snowdin, other than the fact that nobody was there.

The three of us walked past the town and into Snowdin Forest. That was the place I met Sans and Papyrus. We kept walking until I could see the old Ruins door, which was open. Sans and the Gaster Blaster took a left, so I followed them. We walked into the woods for fifteen minutes when the three of us came to a clearing with training dummies stuck into the snow. There were remains of a few cast here and there, either charred, ripped, or had several holes in them.

I approached a neary tree and started climbing it. My foot slipped, sending down snow. The Gaster Blaster made a nosie that was a combination of a bark and a blast.

"Oh crap," Chara and I said simultaneously. I climbed up the tree faster.

"What's up with you?" Sans asked the Gaster Blaster. He looked at the tree, right where I was. I held my breath. Never in my life was I so glad to not be noticed. "It's probably just a squirrel," he muttered to himself. I let out a small sigh of relief.

"That was definately a close one," Chara sighed.

"Yeah," I replied. I looked back at Sans, who held his hands up in front of him. Seven hands appeared behind him. Each of them the colors of each part of a human SOUL- green, purple, orange, blue, yellow, light blue, and red. Kindness, Perseverance, Bravery, Integrity, Justice, Patience, and Determination.

"Woah. I've... never seen anything like this," Chara stated. I agreed with her.

The yellow hand glowed and disks of light appeared. They were sent at one dummy, which blew up. Next, one dummy held up a gun and shot at Sans. The green hand glowed, moved in front of Sans, and created a green orb around him- a shield. After the dummy stopped shooting the light blue hand glowed a light blue strings flew from its fingers. They wrapped themselves around the dummy and threw it into the air. The blue hand created thin circles of light, which sliced through the dummy. After the dummy remains fell, the orange hand glowed and tiny pellets of orange lights surrounded another dummy. The lights blew up, leaving charred dummy remains. The purple hand glowed and it created black bones.

"Seriously, what're his stats?" Chara asked.

"I'll Check," I said. I looked at him and Checked.

* Sans 1 ATK 1 DEF
* The easiest enemy.
* Can only deal one damage.

His stats glitched for a second and changed to:
* Sans ? ATK 900 DEF
* Damage inflicted by Sans depends on his thoughts.
* HP is 99,950.

"What?! But that's not possible!" Chara exclaimed. "No monster could be that powerful!"

"Okay, now for the seventh one," Sans said.

"The red one," Chara and I remembered.

Sans lifted both hands. The red hand glowed, but nothing happened. His left eye socket was glowing brighter, but his right eye socket kept sparking. Sans put his hands down and sighed. The other hands disappeared. He looked at the SOUL capsule, which held a tiny fragment of his SOUL. Sans picked it up, opened it, and touched his SOUL fragment. It disappeared and Sans put the capsule down.

"Okay, let's try this again," Sans told himself.

He held up his hands in front of him. The seven hands appeared again. The red hand started glowing. Sans' left eye socket glowed light blue. He shut both eye sockets for a second and when he opened them, both eye sockets glowed light blue with a hint of yellow. The red hand started to glow brighter and a large beam of light came from it. After the blast finished, Sans lowered both his hands, his face showing shock.

"Wow. I knew Determination was strong, but I didn't know it was that strong," he stated. I shifted, sending a bit of snow down. Sans turned toward it, causing the red hand to skim a tree. The tree's branches formed pine needles and the bark turned from black to a dark brown. I felt my eyes grow wide. Sans looked at the tree and touched it. "Determination really is a funny thing, huh?" he asked. The seven hands disappeared.

"Wow," I whispered.

Sans' Gaster Blaster turned toward me and the barking and blasting sound combination again as it began to float upward toward me. I felt myself turn visible and started climbing higher. As I climbed, the branches became thinner and thinner. The Gaster Blaster continued to follow me up the tree. Desperate, I jumped to grab another branch, but it broke and hit my head.

My vision blurred. I was faintly aware of the fact I was falling. My wrist hit something, probably the Gaster Blaster, and a new wave of pain erupted from it. I don't know when, exactly, but I passed out.

__________________________________________________________________

Sans didn't know what to expect. His day was weird enough already. First, Frisk had a dream about his SOUL, then she started asking about Gaster, and after that, he had to eat another Determination pill (okay, not so much a surprise). To add to the list, he can bring things to life, using the Determination hand.

Having that as his day, he wasn't exactly surprised when Frisk fell from a tree.

Not wanting to go to Frisk's funeral, Sans stretched out his hand and turned her SOUL blue, making her stop in midair. He ran over to her and looked over her. There was a bruise on her forehead and her wrist was bent funny. His Gaster Blaster floated down, whimpering.

"It's okay, bud. Just rest," Sans told the blaster. It nodded and he placed it back in his inventory.

"I wonder," Dust started. "What happens if you put her SOUL into that capsule? Would she turn into a SOULless husk? Or will she die?"

"Shut up," Sans ordered. Sans turned his attention back to Frisk. He summoned the green hand and pressed it against Frisk's forehead. It glowed and Frisk's bruise faded and her wrist was put in the right position. Sans stopped and the hand disappeared. Frisk yawned and turned over in midair. She was just sleeping now.

Sans sat down against the tree, relieved she wasn't severely injured. As he sat, it dawned to him how tired he really was. Sans didn't have enough energy to get to the Surface, magic or no magic. He already spent a lot of energy.

"Pap is gonna be so angry," Sans muttered. He closed his right eye socket, just imagining how much Papyrus was going to yell at him for being up so late. Sans looked back at Frisk.

Sans stood up and carried Frisk. It was more work carrying her with magic than it was to physically carry her. He walked toward the old Ruins door and went inside. Sans walked up he stairs and into Toriel's old place.

"Not much of a difference," Sans observed, remembering Toriel's new place on the Surface. He walked toward one of the rooms and set Frisk down on the bed, pulling the blanket up to her chin. "There you go, Sunshine," he whispered.

Sans walked out of the bedroom and closed the door behind him. Once he got out, however, Sans' skull was wracked wtih pain. For the second time in three hours, he fell to the ground. He put his hands over his face. There was a cracking sound and Sans felt his face splitting under his hands. He stood up, walking around blindly.

GAH! THE PAIN! Sans yelled mentally.

"GASTER, STOP THIS MADNESS!" Dadster yelled. "HE'S OUR SON, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!"

"I NEVER SAID I WAS DONE WITH HIM, DID I?" Gaster laughed. "I INTEND TO HAVE HIM SUFFER FOR WHAT HE'S DONE TO US!"

"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!"

"I DON'T CARE! HE STILL DID IT, SO HE'S STILL GOING TO PAY!" Gaster yelled angrily.

Sans continued to stumble around in pain, his hands covering his face. After a few minutes, the pain died down. Sans was shaking as he regained his balance.

"What h-happened?" Sans asked nobody in particular. He walked to the end of bedroom hallway where a mirror was. There, he saw the very thing that had caused him pain.

On his face were cracks. One connected his left eye to his mouth. There was another that was connected to his right eye and trailed up his forehead with another crack branching out.

Sans had the face of his father, and had face of Gaster.
Another chapter up after two days! Woo hoo! Stay tuned for the next one, folks!
